Child,
let me cup your face
in my hands
to sound your eyes
let me say the words
an injured fawn
needs to hear
let me tell you
there is a lily
in bloom behind your breastbone
white petals
flower from your lips
when you share your grief
let me open my palms
to reflect the spinning
lily essence of you

paisley, I just emailed you! I’m so happy the words reached your ears. If we keep hearing them, after awhile we might start to believe them. And the words are true, my friend.

I love the idea of the lily in bloom behind the breastbone. Such a healing image.

Tears sprung from my eyes at the words:
“let me say the words
an injured fawn
needs to hear”
I’ve never read anything more beautiful.
